Center for Analytical Ultracentrifugation of Macromolecular Assemblies (CAUMA)

Getting Started with CAUMA Service:

New Users:
Investigators wishing to collaborate with the CAUMA facility should first establish an account on our LIMS system. Please visit this registration page to set up a new account. After registration, an e-mail confirmation will be sent to your e-mail address. Click on the validation link in the e-mail and make a note of the temporary password assigned to your account. You can now go back to the LIMS-III login page and log in with your e-mail address and temporary password. After logging in, feel free to change your temporary password to one of your own choice under "General:Change my Info" in the left bar.

New Projects and Work Flow:
All new projects are initiated by filling out a new project request. Click the "Projects" link in the left bar of the CAUMA LIMS Portal ("US-LIMS-III Portal" link in the left bar) and create a new project (click on "new" at the bottom of the form). Fill out as much information as possible on the provided web form. Based on your information, Dr. Demeler will create a custom experimental design and sample preparation guide which will be e-mailed to you and Mr. Schirf, the CAUMA technical director. Mr. Schirf will then contact you to schedule the experiment. We require scheduling to avoid unnecessary aging of the samples. We generally try to run the samples on the same day they are received to avoid sample aging. Please do not ship any samples until scheduled by Mr. Schirf. After data acquisition, the data will be uploaded to the CAUMA US-LIMS-III database and analyzed by Dr. Demeler. The analysis results will be posted on the website for viewing and downloading when the analysis is completed under the "Reports" button.
